Francis Ford Coppola’s “Megalopolis” film premiered in New York, during which Robert De Niro took the opportunity to mock former President Donald Trump. De Niro jokingly portrayed a scenario in which Donald Trump directed the film, implying that it would have resulted in disorder and a complete absence of coherence.
“Just imagine Donald Trump directing this film,” De Niro said. “It’ll never go anywhere, from total craziness. He cannot do anything. He cannot hold anything together … He wants to destroy the country. And he could not do this movie. He could not do anything that has a structure.”
During a Q&A session, De Niro expressed concern about the political climate, urging people to vote against Trump and what he described as “not real Republicans.”

“I’m worried,” De Niro said. “I see the things in Francis’ film about that, the parallels and so on. To me, it’s not over ’till it’s over and we have to go at this wholeheartedly to beat the Republicans – those Republicans, they’re not real Republicans – and beat Trump.”

“It’s that simple,” he added. “We cannot have that type of person. Everybody has to get out there and vote.”

Spike Lee echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the importance of voter registration and participation in the upcoming election.

Coppola noted that he intentionally cast actors with differing political views, highlighting the film’s theme of humanity prevailing despite disagreements.

“Megalopolis,” which has generated mixed reviews, will be released widely on Friday after a long development process.
